The alignment map increasingly resembles a Venn diagram: states join security frameworks with one bloc, technology partnerships with another, and trade architectures with both. Hedging has become the default grand strategy of the middle power.

Resilient or brittle?

Optimists read this as stabilising — everyone has a stake everywhere. Pessimists note that overlapping commitments are untested commitments, and that hedges tend to fail exactly when they are called.
